The 2021 ACA enrollment window is open

Extra Enrollment Period

In response to COVID-19, the federal government has declared an extra enrollment period through August 15th of this year. It’s another chance to find the plan that’s right for you.

Shop for Health Plans

If you already know the plan you want, enroll now.

Get quality health coverage from Blue KC during the ACA deadline extension.

In the past, you could only qualify for health care coverage during a Special Enrollment Period if you’d lost your job, if your plan had been cancelled, or if you’d had a child or experienced another significant life event.

Then the pandemic happened, affecting the employment and health of millions. And prompting the government to create this extra enrollment period. Now you can shop and enroll in a Blue KC ACA health plan again—or change your plan—without a qualifying event. You might also qualify for advance premium tax credits (subsidies) to cover all or part of your monthly premium.

How to enroll in the 2021 ACA open enrollment

If you’re new to Blue KC, fill out an application. If you’re currently enrolled, you can change your coverage in the extra enrollment period to any available plan. Just review your application, make any changes to your information, and submit it Once your eligibility is confirmed, you have 30 days to choose a plan. Coverage will start on the first day of the following month. The application process is actually simpler than usual, since there’s no need to document a qualifying event.
